


SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION ABOUT HOSTING THE FESTIVAL
CHARIOT PREPARATION
Devotees started two months prior to the festival to renovate and repaint the chariot. Devotees help with:
Total = 30 devotees
Cost for chariot repairs - R 35000.00
SITE SETUP
Site set up starts two weeks prior to the festival
The set up includes:
MARQUEE SETUP
A total of 35 marques were erected by three different companies over a duration of 8 days.
The cost of the marques was R80000.00
A total of 900000 m2 tarpaulin was erected
ELECTRICAL SETUP
A cost of R 23000.00 was paid to the municipality for the connection of electricity for site connection.

OTHER SITE REQUIREMENTS
A total of 850 l/m of fencing was erected in one day
10 containers were hired for storage
WASTE MANAGEMENT
A total of 200 m3 of waste was generated from the festival site which was disposed by Durban solid waste.
It took a team of 12 cleaning staff to keep the site clean. They worked from 7 am to 12 pm during the festival.
TRANSPORT
Transport is sponsored by a number of companies

A total of 26 truck loads with an average truck size of 10 ton
OTHER SITE REQUIREMENTS
PARSADAM COOKING
Prasadam cooking started at 12 midnight each day and was finished by 7 am. It was loaded into an insulated truck and delivered to the site by 9 am.
This service is done by approximately 35 devotees and the cleaning of the vegetables by another 20 devotees.
Meals were prepared for approximately 30000 people per day with a total of 120000 meals
